Hair By AngelEd Is Empowering Women and Girls with Entrepreneurial Skills and Building Self-Esteem
eTradeWire News/10682446
Angel Edwards and her daughter Karis exemplify Black Girl Magic through their programs and products, that encourage young girls everywhere to be their best selves!
CHICAGO - eTradeWire -- What makes Hair By Angeled different from your average braiding salon is Angel herself. And how she aided people when the pandemic began. Angel took ownership of her own studio in 2020, a month before COVID-19 shut down operations. As business was disrupted, it gave her time to think about what legacy she wanted to leave for her two daughters. She started focusing on empowering women by developing a line of hair products and offering online appointments for live hair tutorials. She eventually started booking appointments in clients' homes as a travel stylist and launched an entrepreneurship program to teach young girls the art of braiding.
She truly believes in empowering women, She teaches the art of braiding in the Chicago school system and spreads her message of affirmations and empowerment to girls in grades 5th-8th. From helping black people own their hair beauty to teaching and mentoring young girls, she is nothing short of true magic! That magic flows through her daughters as well. She helps her 12-year-old daughter Karis sell her handmade bedazzled affirmation mirrors (https://hairbyangeled.com/collections/karis-kreations) to inspire other young girls to "proclaim their princess powers."

But this all really began at age nine, Angel Edwards learned to braid hair from her best friend. By the time Angel was 13, she had already established her own clientele and quickly saved enough money to buy her first pair of pink Nike Jordans.
The Chicago native knew early on that she had a gift for not only braiding hair but also for leading small group discussions that uplifted and inspired young women. In high school, she was a part of Demoiselle 2 Femme, a faith-based nonprofit that empowers girls as they transition to become the next generation of leaders. Angel, who also goes by Angel Ed, served as a young pioneer on several mission trips to Africa with her church. Which ultimately led to her entrepreneurial journey with her Chicago-based business Hair By Angeled (https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhairbyangeled.com%2F&data=04%7C01%7Chbeausang%40opportunityfund.org%7Cefbc8f2c02b74776a70208d9ffd7ad75%7Ccc6fd79b0d1a4cedb905d90dd50a83e5%7C0%7C0%7C637822125059447616%7CUnknown%7CTWF...).

Then, in 2018, she got an appointment request from comedian and actress Amanda Seales, who left a glowing review that quickly highlighted her gift and quality service. Angel Ed continued to build her brand and a business from there.
In her own words, "It is an amazing experience in entrepreneurship to meet queens and "pre-queens" that will take over the world with their fierceness."
So, after having read about two near indescribable yet wonderful examples of true Black girl magic, have you booked your appointment yet? Booked a live tutorial? Or even bought a mirror? Cause if not I don't know what you're waiting for.
