Guzi-West Helps Recommends most Homeowners Opt-In to the State/Federal Clean-up Programs
eTradeWire News/10595332
Guzi-West explains why the decision to opt-in or opt-out is different for the 2020 fires.
REDDING, Calif. - eTradeWire -- Guzi-West reviews landfill requirements for fire debris disposal in 2020 and help homeowners determine how that can affect their decisions on opting-in or out on federal and state programs for cleanup.
"We've been surprised to see how different landfills and different municipalities are handling the implementation of the both the private and federal and state clean-up programs," says Clay Guzi.
As a result, Guzi-West has revised recommendations for each fire in our overall geographic area (Napa County north into Oregon). The first thing they learned was that the landfills accepting fire debris can interpret what's required for waste profiling; the state issues an emergency waiver for landfills that will ultimately accept fire debris and waste from a forest fire and that waiver allows them to not require the entire suite of things that would typically be required for waste profiling. However, different landfills interpret the state waiver differently and as a result the waste profiling requirements to bring waste to a given landfill changes dramatically from landfill to landfill.
