Generic Theater Presents POTUS by Selina Fillinger
eTradeWire News/10831223
Selina Fillinger's Broadway hit is a fast-paced political farce full of slamming doors, mistaken identities, and sharp wit.
NORFOLK, Va. - eTradeWire -- Selina Fillinger's hilarious farce, POTUS or Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive, makes its regional premiere this month at Norfolk's Generic Theater. The show runs March 13 through March 29, 2026, with performances Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 2:30 PM.
The chaos begins when POTUS uses a slur referring to his wife during a meeting with foreign diplomats. Shocked attendees take umbrage, sparking an international incident and a media frenzy that threatens to ruin the upcoming gala for the Female Models of Leadership (FML). It's up to the women of the White House to do what they have always done-be the unsung heroes working behind the scenes to save the day.

While highly political, this riotous comedy is not partisan. Instead, it serves as a blistering indictment of patriarchy, using side splitting comedy and knock down drag out physical conflict to illustrate the resourcefulness women employ every single day. These women refuse to let the fact that they are routinely denied a seat at the table--where decisions impacting them are made--stop them for even a moment.
And who are these women? There is Harriet, his chief of staff who has political aspirations of her own. Margaret, the eminently qualified FLOTUS who leaves many wondering why she is not president. Jean, the press secretary, constantly putting out fires ignited by POTUS. Stephanie, the president's secretary who has a photographic memory and speaks 5 languages, but still... Bernadette, the president's drug dealing, felon sister-She's got a guy! Dusty, the president's very young, pregnant mistress. And Chris, a divorced nursing mother of twins trying desperately for the one journalistic scoop that will save her career.
