From Vision to Action: 2025 Health Equity Champion Award Winners Announced

COLUMBIA, S.C. - eTradeWire -- The Alliance for a Healthier South Carolina recognized two outstanding champions of health equity at the 7th Annual SC Health Equity Summit, held on April 17, 2025, in Columbia. This year's gathering brought together health professionals, advocates, and changemakers from across the state, united by a shared commitment to equity and action.
Vince Ford Health Equity Award
This award recognizes an organization demonstrating outstanding commitment and innovation in advancing health equity. SC Thrive was selected for its statewide impact in helping South Carolinians access critical benefits and support systems. Through education, outreach, and technology, SC Thrive continues to bridge gaps in healthcare and social services while addressing the root causes of health disparities across all 46 counties.
Health Equity Circle of Champions Award
This award honors individuals who show exceptional leadership in advancing health equity and reducing health disparities.
Michael Seemuller, M.D., Chief Quality Officer at AnMed, was honored for his leadership in implementing equity-driven strategies within clinical practice. His work has led to measurable improvements in health outcomes for underserved patients and has helped foster organizational accountability around racial equity and systemic change.
