Frankenskates Launches All-in-One Platform for Custom Roller Skates, Skate Spots and Community
eTradeWire News/10846503
New roller skating platform combines an interactive custom skate builder, skate spot locator, community reviews and dedicated marketplace for skaters.
PHOENIX - eTradeWire -- Frankenskates, an independent roller skating company built by and for skaters, has launched an online platform combining custom quad skate building, skate spot discovery, community reviews and a dedicated skating marketplace.
At the center of Frankenskates is the Laboratory, an interactive custom quad skate builder that allows skaters to combine boots, plates, wheels and toe components to create personalized setups. Built-in compatibility rules help identify component combinations that may not work together. Completed builds can be named, saved and shared.
"I created Frankenskates because roller skating has an incredible culture of people modifying their gear, helping each other and learning through experience," said Aaron Hopkins-Johnson, founder of Frankenskates. "I wanted to build something for people getting their first pair of skates, rink regulars refining their setup, outdoor skaters discovering new locations and experienced skaters exploring different equipment."

Frankenskates also includes Where to Skate, a discovery tool for finding roller rinks, skateparks and public skating locations. Community Field Reports can provide information about skating surfaces, styles, music, facilities and the overall experience at each location.
The Skate Exchange provides a dedicated marketplace and community listing system for roller skates, components and skating gear. Registered users can also save custom builds and activity in their Locker.
Frankenskates was developed around four principles: craftsmanship over convenience, compatibility over hype, teach before you sell, and community over competition.
"We want Frankenskates to be a place skaters return to whether they are building a custom setup, looking for somewhere new to skate or sharing information about a favorite location," Hopkins-Johnson said. "We want the store to be part of a broader skating community."
