Fort Collins Author Meisha Pon Joins the Dear Black Woman Anthology
eTradeWire News/10815622
A letter on self-worth, asking for help, and guilt-free self-care; national release September 20, 2025.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. - eTradeWire -- Meisha Pon, a Fort Collins author and founder of MyCircle Retreats, is a contributing writer in the forthcoming Dear Black Woman Anthology, a national collection of first-person letters by Black women to their younger selves and to one another. The book releases September 20, 2025.
Pon's letter traces a common pattern—trading authenticity for acceptance—then lays out a different path. "Little by little, I traded authenticity for acceptance… I smiled when I wanted to scream. I agreed when I didn't. I laughed at things that hurt," she writes. She rejects the idea that unmet needs mean unworthiness, stating plainly that love begins with self-acceptance. She urges readers to ask for help, name emotions without apology, revise survival stories that no longer serve, and replace people-pleasing with honest care.

Her community work mirrors that message. Through MyCircle Retreats, Pon creates immersive spaces where women rest, reconnect, and prioritize themselves without guilt—an approach aligned with the anthology's focus on healing practices that ordinary readers can use.
Dear Black Woman pairs lived experience with tools for reflection and discussion, making it a strong choice for book clubs, counseling programs, faith communities, colleges, and wellness groups.
Availability & Local Events
Local readings and discussions featuring Meisha Pon will follow publication. Pre-order and event details are available through Dear Black Woman Media.
