Former OU Receiver Ivan Carreon Drawing Interest From Top Programs
eTradeWire News/10827108
The 6'6" Odessa High legend and former OU Wideout is fielding offers from multiple programs after entering the transfer portal, with two years of eligibility and untapped potential making him one of the portal's most intriguing physical specimens.
OKLAHOMA CITY - eTradeWire -- Ivan Carreon's phone hasn't stopped ringing since he entered the transfer portal. The 6'6", 225-pound receiver who rewrote Odessa High's record books is already drawing serious interest from Ball State, LSU, Murray State, and Texas State—programs that see what Oklahoma couldn't quite unlock during his two seasons in Norman.
The recruiting pitch writes itself. Carreon finished his high school career with 192 receptions for 3,315 yards and 40 touchdowns, all school records. His junior year at Odessa produced video game numbers: 51 catches for 1,168 yards and 19 touchdowns at 22.9 yards per reception. That kind of production from a 6'6" receiver doesn't just disappear.
At Oklahoma, playing time never materialized. Carreon logged just 12 catches for 124 yards across two seasons, buried in a rotation that couldn't find consistent opportunities for his skill set. But the physical tools that made him dominant in Texas are still there—red zone mismatch potential, contested catch ability, and the size every offensive coordinator wants on third and goal.

Programs evaluating Carreon see a diamond in the rough with two years of eligibility remaining. The high school film shows a player who dominated defensive backs. The college stats show a player who hasn't gotten his shot yet. For the right program willing to bet on potential over production, Carreon represents a massive upside play heading into his junior season.
The interest from programs ranging from Group of Five contenders to an SEC powerhouse like LSU suggests coaching staffs believe the Odessa High version of Carreon is still in there. Someone just needs to give him the opportunity to prove it. And when they do, they'll be glad they did.
