Former Bachelor Contestant Inspires Back to School Giving with Viral #ClearTheList Campaign

eTradeWire News/10531971
BUCKEYE, Ariz. - eTradeWire -- Phoenix, AZ – Bestselling author Elizabeth Lyons knows a thing or two about back-to-school shopping. The divorced mother of five kids ranging in age from 11 to 19 has been filling her Target cart with protractors and number 2 pencils every year for nearly two decades. But when she heard about #ClearTheList, a now-viral campaign to help teachers stock their classrooms, she realized her own children were among the luckiest—and was determined to help those less fortunate.

Lyons first heard about #ClearTheList via social media activist Ashley Spivey. Spivey, a former Bachelor contestant and reality TV star with a passion for politics and books, has been heavily promoting the give-back campaign to her large and loyal fanbase on Twitter and Instagram. Lyons jumped onboard immediately, posting an offer to donate 40 percent of the sales of her popular "33 Day Book Writing Bootcamp" course to the cause.

"Within minutes of posting my offer, I connected with a public school social worker in Minneapolis who works with special needs kids, 90% of whom live below the poverty line and many of whom are homeless," Lyons explains. "Her wish list was packed with sensory and calming items, snacks for kids who have little or nothing to eat outside of school, and basic grooming tools like combs and hair ties. Seeing that lineup was both heart-breaking and eye-opening. I was determined to help clear her list one way or another."

And so Lyons, a writing and publishing coach, decided to put her money where her heart is. Through the end of August (and possibly beyond that, she admits), the author/entrepreneur will donate a full forty percent of every course she sells to classrooms in need across the country.

"I've always loved helping people realize their publishing dreams," Lyons insists, "but this is different. Aligning with #ClearTheList feels like I've found the real purpose in all of this. I'm just so excited for these kids to show up to bright, cheerful, fully-stocked classrooms on the first day of school. Every child deserves that."

Lyons' 33 Day Book Writing Bootcamp includes lifetime access to dozens of video modules and a private Facebook support community, daily trainings and more. The course runs $347 (which means $138 per course goes to #ClearTheList) and is accessible through PublishAProfitableBook.com.
