RIVER FOREST, Ill. - eTradeWire -- The First Presbyterian Church of River Forest will offer a Tenebrae Service (Latin for Service of Darkness) on Good Friday, April 7, beginning at 7:00 pm. Tenebrae offers a dramatic retelling of the suffering and death of Jesus through scripture, hymns, choral music, and eventual darkness.
Tenebrae is a service remembering the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ to atone for the sin of the world. With texts from the requiem mass, the psalms, and the Book of Common Prayer, the Rutter Requiem will be interwoven with Scripture that moves from the reality of death to Christ's promise of eternal life. The First Pres choir will be accompanied by organ and small orchestra, directed by Jane Holstein, director of music
