Dope, Fabric and Guts: True stories about the earliest fliers as they invented the future is a new book released in October 2021. It documents important pilots & designers from the first years of flight. Who knew so many women flew in before WW1?

SHERMAN, Conn. - eTradeWire -- The Old Store Gift Shop and Museum in Sherman, CT, invites you to join their author book signing event, December 12th from noon until 3 PM. Some people find their passion early in life. For some, it comes later. Author John Cilio said he was in his 50s before discovering the path he felt led to take.

Cilio has just published his 7th aviation history book ─ Dope, Fabric and Guts – True stories about the earliest fliers as they invented the future. Its 170 pages of stories and accompanying photographs share the true events of over 130 men and women fliers. The limited-edition book of 300 numbered copies details designer and flier experiences, both bitter and sweet, underscoring how heavier-than-air flying machines became aeroplanes and finally aircraft. WWI brought the virtual end to the innocence of individual flight experiments. His book concludes as the Great War arises and aviation evolved to become an important element in a nation's defense.
