FORT MYERS, Fla. - eTradeWire -- After nearly two years of renovation and conversion, the DoubleTree by Hilton Fort Myers at Bell Tower Shops has officially opened. The former Crowne Plaza Hotel announced its transformation in 2023, introducing the first DoubleTree by Hilton location in Fort Myers.

Renovations began with the extensive revamping of the hotel's 225 guest rooms in 2023. Since then, significant upgrades have been made to the hotel's lobby, 6,196 square feet of meeting space and in-house restaurant, Shoeless Joe's Sports Café.

The hotel's ballroom was completely renovated with new chairs, lighting, carpet, walls and partitions. Shoeless Joe's was fully renovated with new seating, more than 40 new HDTVs, a pet-friendly deck and revamped indoor and outdoor bars. Shoeless Joe's features a brand-new daily breakfast buffet that is open to the public starting at 6:30 a.m. every day. The restaurant opened its doors to guests last September after six months of renovations. The conjoined breakfast room also received a complete overhaul of new flooring, seating, lighting and a built-in breakfast buffet.

Additionally, the lobby features a new front desk location and updated lighting, flooring, seating, restrooms and more. The hotel gym also received new flooring and lighting, with new fitness equipment set to arrive this year. The business center has been replaced by a dedicated Peloton Suite, which will include a few high-tech stationary bikes for indoor cycling. DoubleTree employees can also take advantage of a brand-new breakroom equipped with a TV, microwave, fridge and massage chair.

Situated on the fifth floor, the executive lounge was enclosed to form a small meeting area known as the Matlacha Room. It features a nearby kitchenette, making it an ideal space for family reunions or smaller groups seeking a place to gather.

All guest rooms have been upgraded to the Hilton Connected Room program, allowing the TVs to welcome guests by their reservation name. Guests can now connect to Netflix and stream content as well.

The parking lot has been resurfaced, and the pool is scheduled for refinishing.
