DipTrace 5.3 Released with Interactive Editing and XML Projects for Version Control
eTradeWire News/10841918
The board layout now adapts as engineers work: moved objects push surrounding copper aside, while projects become plain-text friendly for team development processes.
OBUKHIVKA, Ukraine - eTradeWire -- Novarm Ltd today announced the release of DipTrace 5.3, the latest update to its professional PCB design software. The release introduces interactive editing, a native XML project format, and integrated component search with Mouser support.
The centerpiece of the release is interactive editing, designed to reduce manual rework during layout. Designers can move or edit traces, vias, components, pads, mounting holes, shapes, and even the board outline — including during rotation — while surrounding traces and vias are pushed aside automatically. An edited trace walks around pads, keepouts, and other objects on its own. Engineers choose how strict the editor should be: follow design rules at all times, or snap to the last violation-free point and continue editing with violations from there. A new length-priority routing mode allows engineers to sketch the desired path while the router automatically determines where to push existing copper and where to route around obstacles.

DipTrace 5.3 also introduces a native XML project format that works the same way as the native binary format, with fast and memory-efficient import and export. This makes projects suitable for version control, so engineers can track changes and compare revisions using standard development tools.
The new database-powered component search provides fast results with previews, while integrated Mouser Electronics support displays current component availability and pricing directly inside the design environment.
Additional enhancements include Batch Assembly Tracking in the interactive HTML BOM, QR code support with text conversion, improved EAGLE import, a range of DXF improvements, and a new monospaced vector font with fractional font sizes.
As with previous releases, DipTrace remains a perpetual-license desktop application: users purchase the software once and store all projects and libraries locally. This approach is well suited to organizations that require long-term toolchain stability and full ownership of engineering data.
