eTradeWire News/10761377
MINNEAPOLIS - eTradeWire -- Top Criminal Defense Lawyer Lynne Torgerson obtained a successful outcome on a felony 3rd degree assault case in Hennepin County.  Ms. Torgerson's client is a nice young man.  He and his friend attended a New Year's Eve Party.  The boyfriend of the female host of the party started verbally abusing the host.  Client's friend intervened verbally to defend the female host.  The boyfriend, evidently under the influence of drugs and or alcohol, physically attacked friend.  Friend, a marine, defended himself.  Ms. Torgerson's client defended his friend.  The boyfriend sustained injuries, including broken bones.  Ms. Torgerson's client and friend were both charged with felony 3rd degree assault for defending the female host.  Fortunately, the felony 3rd degree assault was dismissed, protecting Ms. Torgerson's client's future.  The result was only a gross misdemeanor.  Self defense and defense of another law in Minnesota is essentially one must be defending an imminent assault, and, the amount of force used is required to be reasonable.  Well done Ms. Torgerson!
