Cobb County Democratic Committee to Host Black Men Forum
eTradeWire News/10776128
MARIETTA, Ga. - eTradeWire -- In order to continue supporting minority representation in government and politics, the Cobb County Democratic Committee (CCDC) will host a forum for black men at the Paul E. Kelly Jr. American Legion Post 296 on July 26 at 3 p.m.
"We believe that all voices need a seat at the table, especially black men who have historically been overlooked," said CCDC Chair, Essence Johnson. "I have noticed the diversity within the Democratic party has increased significantly in recent years, but the number of black men in the party has not grown much larger. We need to ensure that there are black men in leadership, running for office, and being a voice for communities. Representation matters all year round, just not during an election cycle."
Dominique Ali, a fellow Democrat and social activist for change, has also noticed the absence of black men on the political front. With this forum, he hopes that will start changing.
"What I want is for black men to get out and get excited," he said. "The unheard or unspoken voices of guys in the barbershops need to be lifted up!"

The forum is scheduled to run for three hours and will feature a panel of black community leaders including:
"We have heard from several black men in our community that they do not feel represented in the government locally and federally," said Johnson. "If members of Cobb County have something to say, then we are going to listen and make sure their voice is heard and action is taken."
To ensure ample space for forum participants, online registration is required. Please visit: https://www.mobilize.us/cobbcountydemocraticcommittee/event/645973/ to register.
Many thanks for your continued support of CCDC and remember to FIGHT & PROTECT OUR DEMOCRACY!
