Strengthening Families, Uplifting Youth, and Transforming Communities: CMS Drives Lasting Change Through CRECE Initiative.
QUEENS, N.Y. - eTradeWire -- Community Mediation Services (CMS) is proud to announce the continued success of its transformative initiative, CRECE (Community Resilience and Engagement for Children and Families), designed to uplift the Elmhurst and Corona neighborhoods. CRECE builds on CMS's decades of experience delivering essential services and mediation, bringing together local resources and partnerships to drive lasting change.
Through CRECE, CMS applies its proven expertise in youth leadership development, housing assistance, case management, and workforce development to address the immediate needs of the community while promoting long-term solutions. With a focus on engaging youth, supporting families, and improving overall community well-being, CRECE impacts more than 1,000 families annually.
CMS's renowned after-school programs, which have fostered leadership in over 500 youth each year, serve as a model for CRECE's youth engagement strategies. These programs help local young people build critical skills for future success. In addition, CMS's deep knowledge of housing services—gained from assisting more than 300 migrant families daily—equips CRECE with the tools to address local housing challenges, helping families transition from temporary shelters to stable homes.

A key component of CRECE's impact is CMS's role as the Queens County Community Dispute Resolution Center. With over 100 volunteer mediators and an 85% success rate, CMS brings unparalleled conflict resolution expertise to the community, fostering a culture of cooperation and understanding. All CRECE staff receive mediation training, ensuring that this critical skillset is ingrained in the organization's approach to community engagement.
Supported by over 100 community partners, including the Elmhurst and Jamaica Community Partnerships, CRECE is able to deliver comprehensive programs ranging from health education and family counseling to mentoring and youth advocacy. Utilizing successful CMS models such as the Queensbridge Health Advocacy Partners Program and the Family Empowerment Program, CRECE helps families and individuals overcome barriers and achieve economic independence.
