Charity Consultant Vows to Create "Best Ever" Free Digital Training for Charities
eTradeWire News/10789464
LEEDS, U.K. - eTradeWire -- Digital consultant Matt Saunders, founder of Charity Box, a web development firm helping nonprofits grow online, is on a mission to offer the very best free digital training for small-medium sized charities.
According to Charity Digital Skills Report 2024 by Zoe Amar, only half of UK charities have a digital strategy in place. Responding to this, and to what he saw as a "perfect storm" for charity comms, Saunders had this to say:
"Some of the organisations hit the hardest by the impact of Covid and global recessions have been small charities. And yet, these are the ones creating so much value for society. What I have seen is no lack of passion, but a lack of capacity in digital expertise, that is hindering many smaller charities from taking full advantage of online opportunities. That's why I'm running free monthly seminars; to help teach the skills needed to thrive."
Saunders has already run two digital training sessions, both of which were attended by over 20 small charities. His goal is to run them monthly throughout 2025, and to make them as impactful as possible. He says:

"Everyone is so "Zoomed-out" these days that it can be a hard sell getting people onto yet another webinar. I wanted to make these sessions as engaging and interesting as possible, so people actually enjoy coming along."
Feedback from recent attendees has been promising. Alison, Digital Communications Manager for a UK-based charity, says the first workshop she attended was "great - lots of insights about thinking digital-first and plenty of practical steps shared to help you build a strategy".
Saunders plans to solicit feedback from attendees regularly to understand where the specific digital skills needs are in the UK charity sector. This will help inform the topics for upcoming training sessions.
