CEO: Remote work perception bias must be addressed
eTradeWire News/10719109
AUSTIN, Texas - eTradeWire -- An unsettling new trend of American workers believing remote work would set them back must be addressed and corrected, says Joseph Boll, Remote Worker CEO.
Remote Worker is an online jobs board and resource website for remote workers, remote work jobseekers, and hiring managers, employers and HR personnel seeking to recruit and hire the top talent for remote positions.
Boll was responding to recent research that indicates most American workers, whether they work remotely or not, believe that employees who work in-person have a competitive edge above those who work in a hybrid format or those who work completely remotely. Most workers also believe that in-person workers are more likely to have an advantage for promotions, raises, bonuses and other benefits.
Remote work comes with a host of benefits that makes it highly desirable among the workforce not just in the US but around the world. Countless studies have shown that remote work is beneficial for employees and employers alike. However, in the US, there is an ongoing "tug-of-war" between companies trying to force staff back to physical offices and workers refusing to give up the prized work-life balance they have found thanks to remote work and other flexible options.

But now, a new dynamic has to be factored into the equation, as research indicates that those American workers among the fortunate to have remote jobs are beginning to feel like there is a bias against them that could impact their job security. This sentiment could become more concerning as the US economy, and other global economies, gear up to potentially enter a recession as 2023 goes on.
Further, the emerging data highlights a deep disconnect between employers and employees when it comes to remote work and other flexible opportunities in the USA. While studies show most Americans are on the hunt for remote jobs, this new research suggests that they also believe management and other business executives are widely against it.
"We've long spoken against bias and privilege when it comes to remote work opportunities," said Boll. "Remote work must not become a privilege for only upper management and executives, and any perception that the everyday employee would be dinged for working remotely should be addressed immediately.
