eTradeWire News/10724662
Las Vegas' Celtic Festival & Highland Games return with a larger event at Craig Ranch Regional Park, featuring Scottish Heavy Athletics, Bagpipes, and more for a 17th year while supporting SafeNest shelter's pantry.
LAS VEGAS - eTradeWire -- An international celebration of the Scottish Highlands is back and bigger than ever at their new location – Craig Ranch Regional Park. The nonprofit volunteers of the annual Celtic Festival are back for the 17th annual Las Vegas Celtic Festival & Highland Games (http://www.lasvegascelticsociety.org) on April 15th & 16th. It features two days of food, athletics, bagpipes and highland dance competitions, vendors, children's games and more.
Celebrating an even larger festival at its new home - Craig Ranch Regional Park - the event draws more than 12,000 people from around the world over its two days.
On the main stage is the return of tribal Celtic favorites The Wicked Tinkers, Southern California legends The Ploughboys as well as our local Irish rockers Darby O'Gill.

The festival features live music, bagpipe competition, dance competition, free children's glen, traditional food vendors and Scottish heavy athletics competition such as the caber toss and stone throw. A genealogy researcher will trace attendees' heritage to their clan.
"We are so excited to bring this amazing event to Craig Ranch Park, it is allowing us to increase the event area, improve on parking and allow even more visitors to enjoy this amazing event. If you haven't been to the Highland Games before, this is a great opportunity to discover this incredible event and celebrate what a city like Las Vegas can do with our Celtic culture." Said Las Vegas Celtic Society President Josh MacEachern.
The Highland Games is also a food & essentials drive for Las Vegas' SafeNest shelter, and attendees receive $1 off their admission ticket by bringing a non-perishable food item.
"We're all volunteers at LVCS, so community outreach is a huge part of what we do. Partnering with Safe Nest to hold their biggest food & essentials drive of the year at our event is an honor, and we're ready to get back out there helping other organizations in our community as well." MacEachern said.
