CardioCommand's TAPscope® Used in 1st US Procedure Utilizing New MAGiC™ Robotic Ablation Catheter
eTradeWire News/10839357
Tampa-based manufacturer's proven cardiac technology being used alongside one of a kind cutting edge technology.
TAMPA, Fla. - eTradeWire -- TAMPA, FL — CardioCommand, Inc. is proud to announce that its TAPScope® Transesophageal Atrial Pacing and Monitoring System was utilized as the reference catheter during the first U.S. clinical procedure performed with the newly introduced MAGiC™ Magnetic Interventional Ablation Catheter.
The groundbreaking procedure was performed by Dr. Nate McConkey and his team in a patient with complex congenital heart disease requiring advanced electrophysiology intervention. While much attention has been focused on the innovative robotic ablation technology, CardioCommand is honored that TAPScope served as the critical reference catheter used to guide mapping and ablation throughout the procedure.
Reference catheters play an essential role in electrophysiology procedures by providing stable intracardiac electrical signals that help physicians identify arrhythmia mechanisms, guide catheter positioning, and confirm treatment success. Dr. McConkey's decision to utilize TAPScope in this historic case further demonstrates the growing clinical interest in transesophageal approaches as an alternative to traditional reference catheter placement.

"We are extremely proud to see TAPScope incorporated into such a significant milestone in the evolution of electrophysiology," said Chip Ross, Chief Executive Officer of CardioCommand. "While the MAGiC catheter represents an exciting advancement in robotic ablation technology, we are equally honored that TAPScope was trusted to provide the reference signals necessary to support this complex procedure."
TAPScope continues to gain recognition among leading electrophysiologists for its ability to obtain high-quality atrial electrograms while potentially reducing procedural complexity associated with traditional coronary sinus catheter placement. Dr. McConkey is also leading ongoing clinical investigations evaluating the role of esophageal reference catheters in modern electrophysiology procedures.
"This case highlights the value of innovation across multiple technologies working together to improve patient care," Ross added. "We congratulate Dr. McConkey and his team on this remarkable achievement and are grateful that TAPScope played a role in this historic first-in-U.S. procedure."
