FORT MYERS, Fla. - eTradeWire -- Kohl's has awarded a $25,000 grant to Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County through its Kohl's National Giveback Initiative.

The grant, announced nationwide on Nov. 28, will support programs designed for youth ages six through 18 and focus on five core areas: education and career, service and leadership, health and wellness, the arts, and sports and recreation.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County operate two primary programs. The After-school Program offers homework assistance and tutoring services, as well as project-based learning activities, arts instruction, sports and recreation programs, service and leadership projects, and technology centers to enhance learning and play. The Summer Enrichment Program features hands-on STEM projects, field trips, arts and crafts, team-building exercises, dance instruction, activity challenges, sports, guest speakers and academic-based classes covering safety, nutrition and other topics.

"We have created a successful model that focuses on academic growth and personal development, and our programs continue to gain momentum in the community," said Denise Gergley, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County. "Thanks to corporate partners like Kohl's, more children and teens in Lee County have access to these life-changing programs."
