Boys & Girls Clubs distributes school supplies to Lee County students
eTradeWire News/10777967
FORT MYERS, Fla. - eTradeWire -- Children and teens who participate in Boys & Girls Clubs programs in Lee County have completed their back-to-school shopping thanks to Hertz and other community partners.
Nearly 275 club members and their families attended the 2024 Back to School Event, where they selected a new backpack and stuffed it with school supplies like pencils, pens, markers, crayons, notebooks, folders, glue sticks, scissors, rulers, binder pouches and more.
Held July 24 at Park Meadows Community Club, Hertz served as the presenting sponsor and provided donations collected through an employee-driven campaign. The rental car company then dispatched a team of employee volunteers to help distribute school supplies. Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County also provided supplies, and club families enjoyed food from Chick-fil-A, refreshments provided by Coke Florida and ice cream from Flik. Additional event partners include Staples and Nurse Practitioners of Lee County.

"School supplies can be very expensive when you're trying to purchase everything on the list," said Denise Gergley, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County. "Our generous partners are making sure students have the tools for success as the new school year begins."
This was the third year Hertz has sponsored the back-to-school event.
"It's been such a huge success and we're honored to be a part of it," said Jennifer McClain, senior director of human resources at Hertz.
