The Mission of the SR Film Festival is to shine the spotlight on filmmakers and their films that tackle the social and environmental issues of the day. The festival was created in response to the proliferation of violence and violent forms of storytelling in media and entertainment.

- SR Socially Relevant Film Festival's in-person section opens at The National Arts Club on March 11, then goes Uptown to The Maysles Documentary Center and MRHS, on the 12th and 13th, and back downtown at Cinema Village 14-16 and the Tenri Cultural Institute, for its red-carpet Jury Awards Ceremony on the 16th. The Online section kicks in on March 17. A preview event marking Black History Month opens on February 24 at MRHS. Live broadcast interviews with the filmmakers are streamed on the festival's YouTube Channel leading up to the festival.
- An education component includes a BIPOC Harlem-based Filmakers' Panel that takes place on March 13. SRFF offers a wide selection of narrative features, documentaries, short films, music videos, and web episodes, as well as a script-writing competition. All films in the selection deal with important social issues and are followed by Q&A sessions with the filmmakers. Submissions close on December 14.
