SACRAMENTO, Calif. - eTradeWire -- Bennett Awards is proud to announce its recent collaboration with Microsoft to design and produce the official trophy for the 2024 Xbox Excellence Awards, which recognizes the top developers and publishers in the Xbox ecosystem. The awards celebrate outstanding game creators whose work resonated most with players through metrics like engagement, store ratings, and sales.

With creative freedom in hand, the Bennett team presented several design options featuring the iconic Xbox logo—ranging from abstract interpretations to sculptural concepts. Ultimately, Microsoft selected the most minimalist and striking of the designs: a mirrored, silver nickel-plated disc representing the Xbox logo in its purest form.

Forgoing a traditional award base, the piece is crafted from zinc using a die cast process (executed by U.S. manufacturers) and features the recipient's name printed directly onto the surface in a clean black screen print. The trophy tilts at a slight angle, an intentional design element that enhances the visual illusion of the Xbox emblem. The result is a refined and captivating award that evokes a kind of optical intrigue—what appears to be a 3D sphere is, in fact, a flat disc.

"You can tell that a developer is going to be proud to display this award," said Perry Tow, Project Manager at Bennett Awards. "It kind of tells a story all by itself. Despite its simplicity, it's substantial and impressive."

Tow also credited the design team: "It takes designer confidence to embrace simplicity. A lot of times things get overdesigned, and I was really glad everyone realized what a perfect fit this design was."

In addition to the trophy itself, Bennett Awards also developed custom presentation boxes made from recycled materials and will oversee the direct packaging and shipment of more than 100 awards annually to recipients across the country.

The Xbox Excellence Awards honor games across four categories—Store Rating, Player Engagement, Daily Active Users, and Units Sold—providing a data-driven celebration of the games players loved most in 2024. From indie developers to blockbuster franchises like Madden, Call of Duty, Star Wars, and Fortnite, the winners represent studios from 15 countries and the incredible diversity of today's gaming industry.
