eTradeWire News/10533906
Author Talk and Book Signing – September 22, 2019, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, the Arts Club of Washington, 2017 I St. NW, Washington DC 20006.

WASHINGTON - eTradeWire -- The event is hosted by The Polish American Arts Association of Washington, DC. The event begins with a brief business meeting, followed by Shawver's presentation. A reception will follow. The event is open to the public. Please confirm attendance by email to paaanewsletter@gmail.com.

Katrina Shawver will share highlights from her award-winning biography Henry – A Polish Swimmer's True Story of Friendship from Auschwitz to America, the true story of a Polish (Catholic) swimmer who survived three years in Auschwitz and Buchenwald and went on to live the American dream.

The presentation will include stories of writing her book, behind-the-scenes photos not included in the book, and touch on Polish history 1939-1945. This true story is both a witness to the Holocaust through Polish eyes and the story of how a Polish (Catholic) competitive swimmer survived Auschwitz and Buchenwald by his wits, humor, luck, and friends. The book fills a huge gap in historical accounts of Poles during WWII.
