Sold-Out Event Highlights State's Ascent in Aviation, Defense and Space Innovation
PHOENIX - eTradeWire -- The Arizona Technology Council's welcomed nearly 500 aerospace and other leaders to its inaugural Arizona Aerospace Summit, a day of collaboration focused on advancing Arizona's rapidly growing aerospace ecosystem. The sold-out event, held in cooperation with presenting sponsor The University of Arizona, brought together stakeholders from across the state to explore the technologies, partnerships and workforce initiatives shaping the future of aerospace.
"Arizona's aerospace industry continues to gain national momentum, and the overwhelming response to this event demonstrates the strength of our innovation ecosystem," said Steven G. Zylstra, president and CEO of the Council and SciTech Institute. "Bringing together leaders from across industry, defense, government and academia created valuable conversations and new opportunities to strengthen Arizona's position as a global aerospace and defense hub."

The summit featured keynote remarks from Jim Bridenstine, CEO of Quantum Space and former NASA administrator, along with 56 speakers representing leading aerospace companies, defense organizations, research institutions and government agencies. Throughout the day, attendees participated in sessions spanning advanced air mobility, defense, space commercialization, manufacturing, workforce development and emerging technologies, as well as toured an expo featuring 45 exhibitors.
Among the day's highlights were two cross-industry convergence panels that explored the increasing intersection of aviation, space, defense and emerging technologies, as well as Arizona's long-term strategy for continued growth and leadership in the sector.
Arizona Space Commission Chairman Brett Mecum also recognized distinguished leaders with honorary Arizona Space Marshal titles for their contributions to advancing Arizona's space ecosystem, including Thomas Kunkel (Kyl Institute for National Security), Tony Boone (City of Sierra Vista), Tomás Díaz de la Rubia (The University of Arizona), Laurie Leshin and Jessica Rousset (Arizona State University), and Jonathan Roll (ASU NewSpace).

The Council also recognized Arizona Aerospace Summit planning committee members, whose leadership and industry expertise were instrumental in shaping the event's programming and bringing together many of the nation's leading voices in aerospace, defense and space.
A post-event report highlighting key themes, insights and takeaways from the summit will be released in the coming weeks to share the event's outcomes with Arizona's broader technology and business community.
