ST. LOUIS - eTradeWire -- America's Last Little Italy: The Hill, the award-winning documentary about one of St. Louis' most iconic neighborhoods, is set to make its television premiere on Monday, November 30, at 7 p.m. on Nine Network PBS.

The movie, which debuted this past summer as part of the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase, tells the story of The Hill, the Italian-American neighborhood founded by Italian immigrants in the late 1800s that continues to be a vibrant part of the city's culture, mixing residential homes with businesses of all varieties, including numerous world-famous restaurants.

Being a St. Louis story, there isn't a better place for us than Channel 9," said director/producer Joseph Puleo. "After the difficulties we have faced these last few months as a region and a nation, my biggest hope is that our film can inspire and invoke a feeling of positivity to all those who watch it. "

Since its premiere, America's Last Little Italy: The Hill has garnered numerous awards, including the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase this summer where it broke ticket sales and viewer records. ""'America's Last Little Italy: The Hill' was an absolutely precedented success when we offered it for streaming during this year's virtual St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase," explains Cliff Froehlich, executive director of Cinema St. Louis. "The film received more than 1,100 views. That's a record -- by a wide margin -- for the most people to have ever seen a film during the Showcase. When we reprised 'America's Last Little Italy' during the 29th Annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival, the documentary continued to draw viewers in large numbers and was the second-most-watched film of the fest." Other awards include Best Documentary at the Venus Italian International Film Festival, Best Documentary at the Little Rock Italian Film Festival and was an Official Selection at the New Haven Documentary Film Festival.  Most recently, America's Last Little Italy: The Hill finished its run at the St. Louis International Film Festival earlier this month.
