American Photographic Artists Opens Exhibit on January 24th

25 Photographers including Karen I. Hirsch Selected to Display Personal Photos

CHICAGO - eTradeWire -- The American Photographic Artists (formerly the Advertising Photographers of America) will have an opening reception for its 2020 Artist's Perspective Photography Exhibit on Friday, January 24th at the Bridgeport Art Center at 1200 W. 35th Street 3rd floor-Racine side in Chicago from 7:00-11:00 PM.

This exhibit shows the personal work of twenty-five photographers.  Catherine Edelman, prominent figure in the photographic industry and owner of Catherine Edelman Gallery, selected the finalists.

In addition to having her editorial work included in this photographic exhibit, APA member Karen I. Hirsch will also be showing a series of botanic abstracts in the hall adjacent to the gallery. These images are montages made from plants and trees.  Some of these photos reveal anthropomorphic entities.

About Karen I. Hirsch:

Karen I. Hirsch is an international award-winning visual artist based in Chicago. Her work has been published internationally in magazines, newspapers and books including Communication Arts and Graphis photo annuals.  She has received art grants from the City of Chicago and the Illinois Arts Council. In 2007, the government of China invited Hirsch to document the city of Rizhao.

Hirsch's prints have been showcased in Chicago at the Hyde Park Art Center, the Bridgeport Art Center, the Martha Schneider Gallery, and the Richard J. Daley Center, in addition to being featured at the Center of Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, CO, the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art and at the Palm Beach Center for Photography, FL.
