WASHINGTON - eTradeWire -- American Muslims from across the nation will gather for a peaceful protest on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM in front of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, located at 601 New Hampshire Ave NW, Washington, D.C. 20037. The demonstration aims to raise international awareness and call for the rebuilding of the Al Baqee Cemetery in the holy city of Medina, Saudi Arabia—a revered site in Islamic history.
Al Baqee Cemetery, also known as Jannat al-Baqee, is the resting place of many of Prophet Muhammad's family members, close companions, and prominent figures in early Islamic history. In 1926, the cemetery's historic tombs and shrines were demolished, sparking decades of grief and protest among Muslims worldwide who view the site as sacred and deserving of respectful restoration.

"For nearly a century, the sacred gravesites at Al Baqee have remained in a state of disrepair," said scholar and community leader Saiyed Mehboob Mehdi Abidi Al-Najafi. "This is a matter of profound sadness for millions of Muslims who hold these figures in the highest esteem. We are gathering at the Saudi Embassy to respectfully but firmly voice our demand for the rebuilding of Al Baqee, a site of immense historical and spiritual significance."
The protest will include speeches from religious leaders, human rights advocates, and members of the Muslim community. Participants will peacefully advocate for the reconstruction of Al Baqee, highlighting the importance of historical preservation and religious freedom.
The Al Baqee Organization urges all supporters of heritage preservation, interfaith respect, and justice to join in solidarity on April 7.
