CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. - eTradeWire -- CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. — Alten Construction, a full-service San Francisco Bay Area commercial construction company, recently completed a $3.5 million modernization of existing classroom buildings in Wing 200 at Castro Valley High School.

The 17,000-square-foot renovation included the replacement of furnace units with a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) mechanical system, demolition of restroom walls, ceilings and floor finishes to modernize them, removal and replacement of drinking fountains, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility enhancements and HVAC upgrades, among other items.

Work began on the project in May 2021 and took roughly seven months to complete. The campus remained active throughout construction.

"It was a pleasure working with Alten Construction on this project," said Johnnie Fudge, project manager for Castro Valley Unified School District. "Their team did a wonderful job working on an active campus and not disrupting the students or school activities. We are grateful for their professionalism and for completing the project ahead of schedule."
