Altadena Musicians Launches Registry To Help Musicians Replace Instruments Lost To La Fires
eTradeWire News/10794336
Altadena Musicians has launched a unique platform to help musicians recover after the LA fires: a registry where they can list the gear they lost, and donors can step in to replace it.
LOS ANGELES - eTradeWire -- ALTADENA MUSICIANS LAUNCHES REGISTRY TO HELP MUSICIANS REPLACE INSTRUMENTS LOST TO LA FIRES
Altadena, CA — Thousands of musicians across Los Angeles have lost their instruments, equipment, and cherished music collections to devastating wildfires. For artists, these are more than just tools — they are vessels of creativity, history, and inspiration.
In response, Altadena Musicians has launched a unique platform to help musicians recover: a registry where they can list the gear they lost, and donors can step in to replace it. Think of it like a wedding registry, but for rebuilding lives through music.
How the Registry Works:
While donated equipment cannot be accepted, the registry facilitates direct connections between donors and musicians. Volunteers are also encouraged to get involved by contacting the organization.

The Faces Behind the Initiative:
Altadena Musicians was founded by Brandon Jay and Gwendolyn Sanford, music composers known for Weeds, Orange is the New Black, Romy and Michele the Musical. The couple, parents to two children, tragically lost their home, music studio, and all but two of their instruments in the Eaton fire. With the support of industry partners and fiscal sponsorship from the Creative Visions Foundation (501c3), they are determined to help others facing similar loss.
Why This Matters:
"Instruments aren't just things; they carry stories, lineage, and magic," said Brandon Jay. "While our instruments are irreplaceable, together we can help musicians create new magic and continue their journeys."

How the Registry Works:
- Musicians Register – Musicians impacted by the fires can apply for the registry at no cost.
- Verification & Listing – After verification, musicians submit an itemized list of the equipment they lost, which is added to the registry.
- Donor Engagement – Donors browse the registry and pledge to replace specific items or contribute funds toward their replacement.
- Delivery Coordination – Altadena Musicians ensures donations reach the recipients efficiently.
While donated equipment cannot be accepted, the registry facilitates direct connections between donors and musicians. Volunteers are also encouraged to get involved by contacting the organization.
