Washington Heights nonprofit welcomes Marielys Divanne as new Executive Director
NEW YORK - eTradeWire -- New York, NY – After 37 years of visionary leadership, the Dominican Women's Development Center (DWDC)—a national leader in empowering immigrant women—is entering a new chapter. During Women's History Month, the Washington Heights-based nonprofit announced the appointment of Marielys Divanne as its new Executive Director.
The transition marks a milestone for the organization as co-founder and pioneering Executive Director Rosita M. Romero steps down after nearly four decades of service. Under Romero's leadership, DWDC grew from a grassroots group in a local church into the largest independent Dominican-founded nonprofit in the U.S.
"Marielys has my full blessings. I believe we made the best possible choice," said Rosita M. Romero, Executive Director Emeritus. "She brings a unique combination of nonprofit leadership and grassroots organizing. I am confident she will elevate the organization with her vision and passion."
