$67,400 OTF Ontario Government Grant Lays the Foundation with New Dormitory Floors
eTradeWire News/10836597
TORONTO - eTradeWire -- On Friday, MPP Kristyn Wong-Tam met with the team at Good Shepherd Ministries to see the results of the group's $67,400 Capital grant that they received last summer from the provincial government's Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The OTF grant was used to upgrade flooring for the shelter guest dorms. The project will provide shelter guests with a more comfortable and safe environment, promoting human dignity.
"Congratulations to Good Shepherd Ministries on receiving the Ontario Trillium Foundation Capital grant," said Kristyn Wong-Tam, MPP for Toronto Centre. "Your ongoing commitment to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, and addiction has changed countless lives. This funding has, without a doubt, helped your organization continue to provide safe, dignified, and welcoming spaces for overnight guests and those accessing vital services."
The flooring replacement will improve the living environment and quality of life for all overnight guests at the shelter. In addition, this upgrade's impact will be felt by anyone accessing the many programs and services offered by Good Shepherd Ministries on these floors. This includes addiction recovery services and services for homeless Veterans.

"This Ontario government grant will make a meaningful difference for our overnight guests," said Aklilu Wendaferew, Executive Director of Good Shepherd Ministries. "Being able to welcome each person with dignity and hospitality, in a comfortable and hygienic environment, is central to our mission. This enhancement ensures we can continue to offer that care to everyone staying overnight and to those accessing the many other services within our building."
Good Shepherd Ministries, a Toronto charity since 1963, provides meals, shelter, clothing, medical care, addiction support, and services for Veterans struggling with homelessness and poverty. Through compassionate care and permanent housing solutions, we help restore dignity and break the cycle of homelessness.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province. In 2025-26, OTF invested nearly $107M into 746 community projects.
