Author Paul Ferrante is excited to announce the release of his latest novel, Detector Man, just in time for the 2025 beach book season!
VERO BEACH, Fla. - eTradeWire -- Paul Ferrante, of Vero Beach, Florida, is excited to announce the release of his 12th novel – Detector Man. This comic novel is set in a fictional adult community in Vero Beach, and follows the day-to-day happenings of recently divorced, and now retired teacher Barney Caprio as he tries to fill his days. Along the way, he picks up the hobby of metal detecting on local beaches that eventually leads Barney to a murder mystery involving his fellow residents at the 55+ community!
Follow Barney's adventures while he falls in love, solves a mystery and visits twenty actual bars and restaurants around Vero Beach.
"You'll laugh out loud - and maybe shed a tear - following the exploits of the Treasure Coast's most unlikely hero as he navigates the murky waters of retirement life in the Sunshine State. Barney Caprio is an everyman we can all cheer for!" - Steven Forman, author of the Boca Knights series

"Finally, there's a novel––with a metal detecting hero, no less—that spotlights this increasingly popular hobby. Detector Man is a real find!" – Terry Shannon, treasure hunting expert and author
Former athlete and celebrated coach Barney Caprio thinks he's all set when he and his beautiful wife purchase a residence in swanky Flamingo Pointe, a 55-and-older gated community on Florida's famed Treasure Coast.
And then she walks out on him.
Listless and dispirited, Barney unsuccessfully tries to fill the endless time with Tiki Bar Happy Hours, Early Bird Specials, and a lot of fruitless golf and fishing in what has now become his tropical prison. Despite his boredom, he resists when he's gifted a metal detector to help pass the time, fearing being labeled as "one of those weirdos" trooping up and down the beach in search of treasure.
But then, some odd things start happening around his usually sedate community, and Barney finds himself drawn into a wacky series of events involving Flamingo Pointe's colorful – sometimes crazy – cast of characters. His misadventures culminate in the complex's first ever murder mystery at the same time he's trying to straighten out his disastrous love life.
