Charlotte, NC - the Kappa Foundation of Charlotte will host its 11^th Annual Healthy Achievement 5K Run | Walk on Sat, June 1^st, at 8:00 AM.  An enthusiastic crowd of an anticipated 1000+ runners, walkers, and volunteers will participate in support of healthy achievement initiatives and youth mentoring programs in the Charlotte community, all in beautiful Uptown Charlotte.  This year's HA5K has Truist returning as a key major sponsor.

The HA5K serves as the signature fundraising event for the Kappa Foundation of Charlotte, featuring many health and wellness focused organizations bringing awareness and action to health and wellness issues in our community.  Over its 11 year history, race participants, Health Street Festival Exhibitors, Corporate Sponsors and Community Partners of the event, including Truist, Atrium Health, Rosa Parks Farmers Market, E2M, Mecklenburg County Department of Public Health, Charlotte Running Co., Run For Your Life, the Kidney Foundation and the American Heart Association, have all ultimately supported the Foundation's vision and successful mentoring programs as well as emphasized the importance of maintaining good health while achieving personal, scholastic, and professional goals.

Exciting features of the 2024 HA5K include – performance tech race shirts, custom bling finisher medals, health screenings and information stations, a live DJ, fun awards ceremony and a host of health and wellness focused professionals and vendors to round out a health street festival.

The Foundation strives to foster exceptional achievement amongst young men in the Charlotte / Mecklenburg County community through diligent role modeling, mentoring, structured involvement and open access to economic scholarship and resources.  To this end, the Foundation hosts two primary programs - Kappa League and the Beautillion Militaire (our 48^th year running, focused college preparatory and life skills program).

–       Kappa League is rooted in the spirit of assisting young men who are in need of counsel, mentoring and positive role models to aid in the navigation of their journey from childhood to manhood, particularly from a personal and scholastic development perspective.  Just over the last five years (even through the pandemic), approximately 400 young men from 8^th – 11^th grade, participated in the Kappa League Program.  In 2023, we expanded our Kappa League to include Cub Scout Pack 1911 for Kindergarten - 5^th grade boys.

–       Beautillion Militaire focuses on advanced mentoring and facilitates scholarships for high school seniors pursuing further degrees at four-year collegiate institutions. In 2023, this program facilitated more than $250,000 in merit and community based scholarship funds to young men attending NC A&T, UNC Charlotte, Clemson, UNC Chapel Hill, NC Central University, Morehouse College, Winston Salem State University and Johnson C Smith University, among other esteemed colleges and universities.
